Lajitas
Terlingua's snooty neighbor to the south, Lajitas is right on the Rio Grande. It has a first class golf course, a world class resort, an actual jetport, unexpected shopping, and food that's good enough to eat.
And the mayor is a goat. Not a figuative goat -- an actual four-legged, beer-drinking goat.
Like a lot of towns, Lajitas has traffic jams, too.
The River Road, leading west from Lajitas along the fabled Rio Grande, is widely considered to be the best motorcycle cruise in the country. (Cars and RV's are allowed, too.)
